Media Release information advises that - The Electric Vehicle Association of the Americas (EVAA) announces the second Electric Transportation Industry Conference *Battery *Hybrid *Fuel Cell to be held in Hollywood, Florida from December 10 through December 13, 2002. The conference is being organized in response to the overwhelming demand of conference delegates, exhibitors and members of the press who helped to make the first ETI Conference this past December in Sacramento the premier 2001 showcase for emerging electric transportation technologies and related infrastructure.
"We have established an enormous goal for this year's 2002 Electric Transportation Industry Conference *Battery *Hybrid *Fuel Cell: to eclipse last year's event," stated Kateri Callahan, Executive Director of EVAA, who continued, "This is a tall order since last year we sold out the exhibit hall floor; offered attendees over 40 vehicles including battery, hybrid and fuel cell vehicles to test drive; and attracted tremendous international media coverage from the more than 100 credentialed members of the press who attended the show."
"The EVAA Conferences Committee is working to develop an agenda and activities that retain the best elements of last year's event while also incorporating new topics, technologies and people to reflect the growth and change in this exciting industry," stated Ed LaRocque, EVAA Conferences Committee Co-Chair and Toyota Motor Sales, USA's National Manager of Advanced Technology Vehicles. Co-Chair, Bob Schomber, Regional Fleet Manager for host utility Florida Power & Light added, "We chose to hold the 2002 ETI Conference in Broward County, Florida where there is great interest and growing use of electric transportation technologies - from battery-powered water taxis to electric buses and small Neighborhood EVs - to help highlight the emerging markets for these new, clean and efficient technologies."
EVAA's 2002 event will include three plenary sessions featuring key government officials and industry leaders from around the world. The EVAA Conferences Committee also is organizing concurrent "track sessions" that will feature panel discussions devoted to technology, policy, infrastructure and market issues surrounding each of the three categories of electric transportation, as well as a series of tutorial sessions which will provide an in-depth educational opportunity on specific technology and/or policy topics. Key features of the event also will include an exhibit hall showcasing new and emerging battery, hybrid and fuel cell products, and a vehicle "Ride'n'Drive".
