Uplift I work for a firm that make orange cb flts and red indoor flts. I worked for a firm that used to be in hinkley its a shame but they closed it down when it was taken over.

Sean d I was only pulling you leg I think Mc Ds will pay more and you get free food.

Further to snapmans post on the state of the industry, I would like to add that in Australia the situation is worse than s##t. I was made redundant recently from a position I assumed was going to see me through to retirement and have become disillusioned with the whole industry and the employers in this industry. Panic has set in and saving costs of wages has taken precedent over loyalty. employers demand undying loyalty from employees but this only goes one way and as soon as things get tough it does not mater how committed you have been or how many unpaid hours you have put in you are discarded like an oily rag.
If there are any employers out there looking for a dedicated experienced employee with over twenty years experience in the lift truck industry, who believe in loyalty being a 2 way street I am available and willing to start anywhere on the chain of command.

HI Uplift,  I used to cover from Leicester, coventry, Birmingham, up to Harrogate/Manchester leeds
So I think they will be looking for someone that doesnt mind a bit of driving .
They are a bit disorganised when it comes to planning a route so one job could be in manchester and then the next one could be in Coventry and, they would expect you to work from nottingham and try make you travel there in your own time.
Being in Sheffield I did manage to  sort out a compromise that If i went into the Depot first thing in the morning that I would give the 1/2 hour but going straight to the job I booked from home.

Hope this helps

I have decided to start my own company doing service, repairs and thorough examinations.
It's gonna be a bit of a long slog but I think this is the best time to start where I can undercut any forklift company and give a personalised professional service.
A lot of companies are looking at the pennies so I am hoping to go in at 30 to 50% less than current charges as I don't have many overheads and I have the equipment to be able to carry out almost any job that needs to be done.
