"After working in the forklift industry for 30 years or so, it has always amazed me that all the companies that I have worked for all put Health and Safety in the forefront of company policy, yet fail to adhere to their own policies when it suits them.
Due to Legal issues the rest of this post has been deleted for the time being.

I do have the Department of trade and industry looking into this but luckily for me the HSE were contacted by myself last week with the problem that I had as  the cable was given to me then and sounded alarm bells ringing.
I doubt that I would make anything substantial out of any claim but look more at what the outcome will be that will protect the customer that is going to be using it!
I also have an email that was sent to the company head office voicing concerns about the current lack of H&S.

stand by your guns derek . if you are asked to inspect a machine and in your opinion it is unsafe it should not be used till rectified .
