Pre-use inspections of forklifts

How many of your drivers actually carry out their pre-use inspections of their forklift. Having done some research, I found a frightening amount of trucks keep an inspection checklist under the seat which is rarely filled in by the driver. A common event is for the driver to assume the truck is fine because it worked without incident yesterday, and the checklist is only complteed when an audit is due and is quickly filled in for the past month's worth of alleged inspections.

We recently developed a new system to provide a visual reminder to drivers to complete their checks, with a duplicate record being produced as part of an audit trail. This system ensures everyone is aware thatthe inspection has been carried out and eliminates the risks of assumption. I find most fill it out .But they just copy what was wrote before them.Had a horn bad on a truck.Fixed it but it was written up for 2 weeks before all operators quit putting it on daily inspection.
