Does anyone know what's going on with Nissan in the UK? First Impact jump and no credible dealer wants to take on the product, now it seems that Carrylift are about to do the same!
What will HFT, South Wales and Lift West do now as they'll be the only dealers selling any Nissans?

The spray paint on the wall is in 6ft letters for Nissan's future in the UK!!!
The 'new' Nissan dealers are hardly premium outfits and Carrylift are just going to dominate them all. The bomb's ticking, it's just a case of when it blows now.
I see that another of the original Nissan Dealers - "The Boys in South Wales" has now given notice to quit the once "prize" dealership. That only leaves Carrylift who won't be long following the Doosan badge especially when you remember they are now part of the Doosan earthmoving importers.
It is a definite slope down for the product and dealer network as we see it start to see a merge into the Atlet brand, it makes you wonder who took who over??
The previous management (now retired) has a lot of responsibility and questions to answer!
It's a shame our industry couldn't carry out a "Murdock" type enquiry and call them back for an all-party review of their actions.
Nissan appear to be getting new small dealers slowly, but just look at the calibre of them!!!! They're not the professional powerhouses that they used to be that's for sure!!! They must be desperate to survive!!!
There must be a pretty sound reason why strong established dealers are turning their back on Nissan though, let's face it.
If everything was sound, then everything would remain the same, surely!??!
Just heard today that HFT have left Nissan and are going to Mitsubishi and the current Mitsubishi dealer is going to Nissan. Why is there so much instability in these manufacturers?
Good points made DL I'm sure your right, as I said we'll have to wait and see.
I take it you are talking a bout impact deal. From what i heard forkway had tied up a lot of the Nissan customers and have tried to move Yale in. As for the rest you seem not to like some one , you seem to know a bit a bout finance and have some contact's in the city. The point like Toyota have done Linde have done and many more manufactures will do is go direct as a manufacturer and own their own sales and service network. This is a point that will come out time and time again.
Davelift, you say" truth is there is no crisis" at Nissan's UK liftruck business and only the "ones put on here" whatever that means?
I am not sure any of us are aware of the facts that are current.
Well I have some interesting and super collegues and contacts in our great industry chap but I have one with quite an interesting and rumoured account of a strange situation he was informed about with a foreign owned average sized dealer up North that ended up supplying the brand
I'll point out a few bits of what I guess may have occured - this GB Business Unit of NFE actually made a decision in 2007 to look at a dealer of another excellent Japanese liftruck supplier (I think once this had being ended) and in my friends' opinion through individuals making the strategic decisions sacked a group of very loyal, proper and successful dealers after Christmas from down here in the South, across in Essex, up in Yorkshire and the Eastern England areas and managed to persuade this 'new darling of Nissan' to actually buy one of their soon to depart dealers in the East Mids. Jackpot! Wonder what the commission was on that Nissan deal!
This new dealer which had I'm told had achieved over 500 new orange units p.a was targeted with a few more and had to take stock units also, what a potential jackpot if you happened to be landing this. Oh dear what a cruel World!
We have not seen much going on down here but we have all seen that the 'active' dealer has moved on to yet another brand with not a tear shed and a UK task probabbly bigger than the Coalition's! and our 'experts' in Nissan Forklift GB duly retired and are still sat worrying about the 'CRISIS'you mention that they were supposed to have left... I think not!!
Well we then saw a major strategic reorganisation and duly re appointed the fabulously loyal dealers back, launched a new range of IC units that are ultra reliable and everyone is happy, dealers, customers and even ex chiefs alike! mmmm! NO I'm not so sure. Will this lead to the Direct route to market we'll have to wait and see!!
Nissan/Atlet best watch out as the cheap far east forklifts will be looking at having there customers. No great loss if they close up shop more room for the big 3 in the UK. Nissan/Atlet are worth more in scrap than new.
Edward T,
Thanks for the translations. I luv to learn something new every day, even weekends & holidays. I only know "Americanese" - a real spin off of the our former landlords language. And with my typing inabilities I often butcher that up. I only dated girls in college that could type my papers for free of course, otherwise I'd still be trying to get a degree.
Daveilift - Toyota & BT are keeping there separate identity's even though they are all now under the TMH name, there is no plans to phase out the BT brand.
Sales people are told BT brand for indoor warehouse equipment & Toyota brand for counter balance & tow tractors.
BT name isnt taking a back seat, they have just launched 3 brand new forklifts & there is another new one coming out later in the year.
Also remember Toyota now thanks to joining up with BT have the Raymond & Cesab brand's in there portfolio as well, a lot of Toyota bits & technology are finding there way on to Cesab branded machines.
We all know that Nissan are now going to deal through Atlet maybe the problem is some people don't want this as it could be a strong competitor. Two or three years ago Nissan had a not bad product engines are good transmissions not bad so how come all of a sudden they are now this company in crises the truth is their is no real crises only the ones people put on here. Nissan would have allways been intending to go with At let like has been pointed out many times over. When Junghienrich took over Boss the Boss name went when Linde took over Lancing Lancing name went when Toyota took over BT BT name took a back seat so now Nissan have took over AtLet Nissan have decided to Use the Atlet Dealer ship in the UK to go direct. Nissan Dealers probably don't like this as a customer can get the same truck at a lower price so they are now trying to find a new company to work for namely Doosan, But Doosan are going the same way they will own their own dealers in the UK within 5 years. Their will be no room in the large fleet market for smaller dealers in the UK in 5 years time. Companies should look at how they can compete with owned dealers by looking at different services
ahhh, John, "News and Whispers" is how they say "Rumors" in the high dollar pubs in the UK, and in beer drinking holes down under...
(like the Foster's beer commercial says; "how to speak Australian")
;-)
I think that forkliftaction needs to retitle this forum "The U.K. Rumor Mill". What say you! (just in jest)
Nissan Atlet chat Update!.....
Lift up North I think and hope you were relating actually to 'Southern Snob'! All the same we are divided by Geography and United by belief.. and that is that there are certain forklift 'Companies' who may not be percieved to be operating as well as we would all seem to expect. We have just seen a typical deal done down here that I could not believe, when I took the call I laughed so much I nearly fell in from where I was on the waters' edge!!
It would be great for one of these servants of this great brand to post onto the forum some great positive news ( not just who up they have replaced or what brand they may be doing next) but a positive comment on what we should expect from Nissan atlet going forward.
Hft on the Mitsi bus and good for them.Cam are just a stop gap dealer whose Web Site is so full of Ifs Buts and Maybe's you need to read it on an empty stomach.
