when you lift the pump sounds like its running in bypass it will lift the first stage very slow and wont have enough power to lift the second stage
also at the same time tilt is completely inoperative even though the pump runs with tilt request
(sounds like its in bypass again)
then it will work fine then the prob comes back
cust claims resetting the key fixes it but that does not seem to be the case (very random)
my shop guy took out the valve body and cleaned it out also put a new filter in with no change in problem

i tried swapping relief 1 (lift) and 2(aux) since they carried the same part # but there was no change
no codes so i think its a stuck valve but not sure which 1 since if lift select was stuck then it would lift when i request tilt and if the tilt valveswhere stuck then i probablay wouldnt have a problem with lift
any heads up would be great
thanks

I would check pressures first. Verify your pressures when system is acting up and when it is running ok.  If system is running in bypass you will feel spot where restriction is heat up. I am not sure where test ports are but using them may help, good luck.

Check the variable flow valve, could be sticking, the driver could also be bad (might explain the reset with keyswitch).

If the lift runs after its been sitting a while than works ,it is sounds like your lift pump is going  bad (this is a comman syptom of a pump going out

If your lift is pre-93 make sure that the firmware is correct for the pump otherwise it will not turn at proper RPM and could lead to premature pump failure.

its says it on the firmware chip (eprom) or in the display after entering the password
which, from memory on these docksotckers, the default pw is _dss______  then you can scroll to the firmware version

replacements/updated eproms aren't very expensive
even though i believe this was a 1997 i will double check the version next time im onsite for this machine
thanks for the heads up

Hi Justin,

I maintain 18 DockStockers at one company alone, and i have addressed this problem at least 12 times. The first few times, i diagnosed them to death, then i just started putting the pump pair on them. I have found that the majority of them had an "O" ring blown within the pump, i started building them, but the cost came out about the same.

Hope this helps,
