Nissan Forklift Corp in Marengo has received positive attention in Kurt Begalka's
coverage in the 3 May issue of the
Northwest Herald newspaper.
Among the insights, Tony Salgado, vice president of manufacturing operations, says actual assembly line time for the average Nissan forklift is 2.5 hours with another 15 to 20 hours spent on related production activities for each unit.
A nearby Nissan industrial engine facility assembles and tests engines for Nissan forklifts and even for "some of its competitors such as Toyota, Komatsu, Yale, Hyster and Crown", Begalka reports.
Nissan Forklift Corp is a subsidiary of Nissan Forklift Co Ltd of Yokohama, Japan within the Nissan Motor Co Ltd family.
Nissan Motor and Hitachi Construction Machinery Co agreed recently to merge their forklift operations later in 2012 through a new venture, UniCarriers Corp. Nissan will own 20%, Hitachi 26.7% and Japanese government-supported Innovation Network Corp of Japan 53.3%.
