To trace the history of Terex Port Equipment is the same as many other modern manufacturing companies with roots starting in specialised businesses that over time have been brought together with the need for an injection of capital. These businesses have now combined both technical and engineering expertise to be one of the world most advanced port equipment manufactures supplying port handling equipment to most ports in the world. Reggiane Cranes and Plants (formerly Reggaine) was founded in 1904 and has been a forerunner in modern industry in Europe for the last 50 years. The Italian Company represents one of Europe's finest examples of technological and industrial know-how in the heavy machinery, engineering, desalination plants and aircraft sectors. "Reggiane" is the current European leader in the large port crane and intermodal terminal field, and has always been one of the only leading global entities in the industry.

The Italian company
Fantuzzi was founded in 1960 under the name OMF. From a small workshop dedicated to sidelift truck production, it grew rapidly to become a pioneer in material handling history, manufacturing highly specialized and innovative products. Today, Fantuzzi is a worldwide leader in state-of-the art container lifting equipment.
Founded in 1824, the German Company
Noell pioneered the port sector with their "Peiner" Straddle Carrier which handled the very first ever overseas container to arrive in Europe. Set on solid foundations, Noell has steadily grown to become what can only be described as an outstanding and durable success story that has revolutionized the entire port sector. Noell is a leading reference in today's global container handling business.

The cornerstone of the "renaissance" of the Lentigione plant is
Terex's own operating system, better known as T.B.S ( Terex Business System) which covers 360° of the structure of the company , utilizing Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to continuously further improvement in all areas. Such an approach applied specifically to the business will soon result in a total range renovation for the Terex reachstacker, top-lifts, fork lift trucks and empty handlers that will be manufactured at the former Fantuzzi factory in Lentigione, Italy.
