 Douglas LegaC2 Modular Chargers |
Douglas Battery™ Takes High Frequency Charging to the Next Level with LegaC2™ Modular Chargers
Since 1921, Douglas Battery™ has been providing reliable power, customer support and innovative battery and charger solutions to keep a range of industrial equipment moving. With the introduction of its LegaC2™ high-frequency modular chargers, Douglas Battery is building on its 95-year legacy with some of the most advanced products available for material handling applications. Meeting New Charging Demands Today, many warehouses and distribution centers rely on large vehicle fleets to operate three shifts per day, seven days a week. Material handling vehicles play a critical role in the success of any warehouse or distribution center, whether it involves transferring cargo, stock or pallets. Today, battery powered forklifts represent more than 61 percent of trucks currently purchased. Based on the size of the material handling operation, adjustments can be made to deliver improvements in operational efficiency. Recent advances in industrial battery and charging technology, such as Partial State of Charging (PSoC), are helping to fuel these improvements, leading to the evolution of greener energy fleets.
With PSoC, a battery can be charged several times during a shift, allowing it to operate through one or more shifts. PSoC may also eliminate the need for spare battery storage, handling and changing equipment, freeing up valuable warehouse space. Featuring some of the industry's most compact, versatile and efficient designs, the new line of Douglas Battery
™ LegaC
2™ modular chargers expands on the inherent space and time-saving advantages of high frequency charging, while also providing several other charging profiles.
Robust and versatile performance; energy-saving footprintThe LegaC
2™ modular charger product line includes
single phase and
three phase models. Available in either free-standing or wall-mounted designs, the new LegaC
2™ modular chargers are suitable for a wide range of battery capacities, opening up the possibility of fewer chargers for a given fleet. The new chargers also include a number of charging profiles, from standard flooded and Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) to opportunity charging (PSoC), cold storage and Gel-bloc.
Due to their modular construction, LegaC
2™ chargers can maintain peak efficiency at all times by switching power modules on and off automatically. Should a single module develop a minor fault, the charger will bypass it and continue operation at reduced power. The charging process will continue uninterrupted, along with a facility's fleet operations. The modular design also allows facilities to future-proof their forklift fleets. Should battery profile or capacity needs change, LegaC
2™ chargers can be added to meet the new requirements. The line's
three phase 3 and 6 bay models can also charge at multiple voltages as necessary.
Additionally, LegaC
2™ modular chargers can help reduce fleet size and downtime, potentially shrinking an operation's carbon footprint and energy costs. The chargers offer efficiency rates as high as 94%, and units consume below 10W in standby mode. They also comply with the California Energy Commission (CEC) appliance efficiency standards.
To help make functionality as user-friendly as possible, LegaC
2™ chargers feature an easy to read LCD screen with a programmable menu. All units also include a USB port to download or upload charger data.
"The addition of LegaC2™ high-frequency modular chargers to our charger portfolio allows us to further meet the needs for higher efficiency, flexibility and reliability across a range of material handling applications," explains Brian Faust, general manager, Douglas Battery.
"By combining Lega2™ with our existing Raptor™ rapid charger, we're able to provide innovative charging solutions, whatever the application."Complementing the LegaC
2™ high-frequency modular chargers is the high-speed, fully automatic, high frequency
Raptor™ Rapid charger for large-scale, multi-shift industrial lift truck applications. The
Raptor™ Rapid charger returns batteries to a full state of charge in about a quarter of the time when compared to conventional chargers. By charging during normal shift breaks, battery changes can be virtually eliminated.
