TMHNC's new Livermore site
Toyota Material Handling Northern California (TMHNC) will expand into new premises in Livermore, California after outgrowing its facilities in Hayward.

Senior vice president Mark Andres tells Forkliftaction News the new facility covers 64,000 sq ft. (5,945 sqm) on a 4 ac. (16,200 sqm) site.

"In the past three years, with an increase in service technicians, shop work, rental fleet and product diversification, the current facility in Hayward has simply been outgrown," he says.

"Our warehouse team spends hours bringing equipment out into the yard in the morning and putting it back in the warehouse each night - all of this simply to make room for the day-to-day operation.

"Something had to be done.

"The family has been looking quite aggressively for new property but with the California real estate market, finding something that fit that made financial sense was a challenge," he adds, explaining the decision behind the purchase of the new site.

TMHNC has been family-owned and -operated for over 90 years, led by Rich Andres and his two sons, Mark and Stephen.

"TMHNC is one of Toyota’s first and longest-standing dealerships in the United States with strategically located branches/service centres in Livermore (HQ), West Sacramento, Fresno and Salinas California, as well as partnerships with all 68 Toyota dealers and 150 service locations nationwide."

The business started out as Perin Company, and was purchased and re-named in 1997 by the Andres family. To accommodate the rapid growth, the company expanded in late 2001 to a new facility in Hayward, CA. The new facility accommodated many changes and enhancements to the operation.  Even through the downturn of 2008, the company maintained its footprint and found ways to grow.
Andres says the new facility provides freeway frontage. It also has ample office space for employees to spread out and be creative.

"We plan on enhancing our service and parts offering by expanding our tyre business significantly," he says, adding that the facility will also include an in-plant paint booth, an expansive gated yard, a significantly enlarged parts department and a generous showroom.
"We are more than excited about this next chapter and what it will bring to our team members and customers," he says.
