Nissan Forklift’s Vice President, Sales & Marketing Retires

Thursday, 15 Oct 2009
Marengo, Illinois – October 2009. Known to many in the Nissan Forklift family as the company cheerleader for his unending devotion to growing the Nissan brand for nearly 20 years, Mr. Nick Tortorich will be retiring from his post as Vice President, Sales and Marketing on October 30th, 2009.

In 1968, Nick’s passion for sales led him to begin a career in the material handling industry, landing him two consecutive jobs with Chicago forklift dealerships that spanned nearly a quarter century. In 1992, Nick joined the Nissan team – then known as Nissan Industrial Equipment Corporation (NIEC) – as General Sales Manager in its Schaumburg, Illinois office. Just one year later, he was promoted to Director of National Sales and transferred to his new position in Nissan Forklift Corporation’s Marengo facility.

Its Director for thirteen years, Mr. Tortorich was responsible for growing unit sales through NFC’s national account team and nationwide dealer network. By April of 2006, Nick was appointed Vice President, Sales & Marketing. Soon after receiving this promotion, his role was expanded to include Nissan’s training and technical publications team as well.

His contributions to Nissan over the last 17 years have created a significant impact on the company and those who’ve known him – including many from Nissan’s dealer network.

Earlier this year, at Nissan’s most recent sales incentive award trip, Nick was presented with a Pinnacle Emeritus ring by former award winners of this elite group. To receive this honor is a goal for which all Nissan sales professionals strive to achieve, signifying their appreciation for his dedication to the industry, their businesses, and to each of them, personally. "He’s one of us", said Audie Burgan, one of Nissan’s first Pinnacle-award winners, and President of J.M. Equipment in Fresno, California. "Nick has always worked tirelessly to help the dealers and Nissan succeed. He’s the catalyst that’s allowed us to achieve our common goals and deserves to be recognized."

And his enthusiasm for the lift truck industry will be missed. Gary Hansen, President of Capital Equipment & Handling, another Pinnacle award winner, explains. "He seems to never tire in his efforts to make Nissan and its dealers better and more successful. Under his leadership and guidance, Nissan Forklift has earned the respect of its competitors and peers alike. Under his stewardship, Nissan's reputation for being a leader in our industry has flourished."

Nissan Forklift congratulates Nick Tortorich on his well-earned retirement. His significant contributions, positive attitude and friendship will be missed.
