UK palletised distribution network Palletforce is launching a children's story book and attempting to break a world record for the largest bedtime story reading session ever.

The company's CEO, Michael Conroy, is featured as the character The Big Cheese in the network's storybook No Job Too Tall, which took 12 months to develop. The book includes Palletforce vehicles as characters like Phil Truck and Bob Stacker.

TV presenter Michaela Strachan is helping launch the book at its 400,000 sqft (37,161 sqm) central hub in Burton-upon-Trent. Strachan will read to hundreds of children who will be able to bring their teddy bears and blankets to the event.

"At Palletforce, we pride ourselves on being leaders in innovation in the industry and this is another way we are pushing the boundaries," Conroy says.

He adds that it will be interesting to see the hub filled with children instead of trucks. There will be a funfair in the hub and the company will try to break the Guinness World Record for the most adults reading to the most children in a single location.

To beat the record, Palletforce must have over 200 adults reading to 200 children.

"We want this event to be something really special for the children and it would be even better if we set a world record. We've created some really interesting characters to grab their imagination and keep them entertained while learning about the industry," Conroy explains.

No Job Too Tall follows the adventures of Big Trousers, Woody Pallet and Phil Truck as they go about their work in the central hub, unaware of the mischief being caused by some escaped zoo animals. It aims to teach children about green issues connected with the transport industry and how goods are transported to end up in their homes.

The event is on Saturday, 13 November, from 6:00pm to 8:30pm.

Palletforce's GBP30 million (USD47.7 million) central distribution hub was opened last year and acts as a nerve centre for the overnight delivery of palletised goods across the UK and Europe. The company was founded in 2001 and offers express delivery service for small consignments of palletised freight in the UK and Europe.
