Hyster's big truck range complies with regulations
Nijmegen, the NetherlandsHyster Europe claims it is the first materials handling equipment maker to offer a full range of Tier 4i/Stage IIIB-compliant equipment for ports, terminals and heavy industry.
Hyster's range of big trucks with capacities over 16 tonnes (40,000lbs) features new engines and new system technologies that comply with Tier 4i/Stage IIIB.
In January 2011, container handling equipment and large capacity forklifts will be affected by new emissions regulations known as Tier 4i for the North American market and Stage IIIB for the European Union. The regulations affect all diesel-powered off-highway equipment with power ratings over 173 hp (129 kW) that are sold in those markets.
The Nijmegen assembly line will build the 16-18 tonne (40,000-45,000lbs) and 25-32 tonne (55,000-70,000lbs) forklifts featuring the new Cummins QSB 6.7 engine. The Hyster empty container handler based on the 16-18 tonne forklift will also feature the new compliant engine. Emissions regulations for the larger forklifts, laden container handlers and reach stackers will be met with the new Cummins QSL 9 engine.
