Acquaintances and family members participated in a visitation and memorial service for popular forklift mechanic Robert Aldred, 63, of the community of Midhurst in Ontario's Simcoe County.
Aldred was born in Bolton, England, worked in forklift operations for the Harvey's restaurant chain of Cara Operations Ltd and died 30 January at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie.
He was known as a charming individual who was generous with his time, smiled often and enjoyed travelling with friends and family to his home country. He is survived by his wife, Marie; three married sons, Chris, Steve and Darren; and six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Aldred's family suggests considering a community-based charitable program that helps youngsters in financial need participate in organised sports and recreation programs. Memorial donations can be sent to Canadian Tire Jumpstart, 10th Floor, 2180 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario M4P 2V8 Canada.
