Still introduces new RX 50 and starts hybrid forklift production
Hamburg, GermanyStill GmbH has introduced the new RX 50 three-wheel electric forklift with rear-wheel drive, which it claims is the most compact of its class.
The forklift with 1.0 to 1.6 tonne load capacities can work in an aisle width of 2,888mm. With an overhead guard that is 1,980mm high and a chassis width of 990mm, it easily travels through doors that are two metres high and one metre wide.
Over 90,000 units have been sold worldwide since the three-wheel electric (R 50/RX 50) forklift was introduced in 1977. The new RX 50 series recently won the IF-Product Design Award 2011.
Separately, Still has started series production of the RX 70 hybrid forklift, which was introduced in 2006

With a rated capacity of 3.0 and 3.5 tonnes, the forklift is based on the German manufacturer's successful RX 70 diesel truck. Still says the use of the RX 70 for over 1,500 hours a year, will pay off the technology in less than two years. The forklift will be displayed on 2-6 May at CeMAT 2011 in Hannover.
Solideal introduces new tyre
Duisburg, GermanyCamoplast Solideal Inc has launched its Xtreme resilient tyre for the industrial materials handling industry. Designed for demanding applications, Xtreme is available in a range of sizes to suit the most popular forklifts. The tyres will be available Europe-wide after CeMAT 2011 and will then be released to other markets.
