US materials handling association MHEDA has granted its MVP Award for 2017 to four distributors. The latest inductees are Bublitz Material Handling, North Kansas City, MO (which has held the status for three years); CE-DFW Warehouse Solutions, Grapevine, TX (four years); Riekes Equipment Co., Omaha, NE (six years); and WW Cannon, Dallas, TX (three years). Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Forklift, Engine & Turbocharger Holdings, Ltd. (M-FET) has raised its stake in Mitsubishi Nichiyu Forklift Co., Ltd. to 51%. At the same time, it has transferred its 65% stake in UniCarriers to Mitsubishi Nichiyu Forklift, making UniCarriers a wholly owned group company of Mitsubishi Nichiyu Forklift. Hiab has received an order for several HIAB L-HiPro 145 cranes from Wincanton Plc, a leading third-party logistics and supply chain solutions provider in the UK and Ireland. SANY recently dispatched its 100th Asia Pacific reachstacker from its port machinery plant in the Changsha Industrial Park in China’s Hunan province. Completion of the order in late December is being described as “a demonstration of (SANY’s) increasing influence in the world”. Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc. is preparing to build another Houston-area facility, according to the Houston Business Journal. Construction is slated to begin immediately on a 71,000 sq ft. (6,600 sqm) manufacturing facility and distribution centre in the Conroe Industrial Park. GRI (Global Rubber Industries) has laid the foundation for the construction of its latest specialised tyre factory in Badalgama, Sri Lanka. Walter Sellick, the founder of Sellick Equipment, passed away on January 10, 2017. He was 98. Walter is survived by sons Howard and David, daughter Heather and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.   Born in 1918, Walter was raised on a farm in Harrow, Ontario. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941-1945 and was a life member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #338. A 52-year-old Union City man was killed at a North Bergen recycling plant on Tuesday after being trapped under a forklift, according to the Jersey Journal. Rigoberto Guerrero died from injuries sustained during the accident at the Lincoln Recycling Plant on Dell Avenue. Staffordshire-based logistics firm Rudolph & Hellmann Automotive has been ordered to pay over GBP270,000 (USD334,500) in fines and costs after two employees were injured in two days. In October 2014, a worker had his left foot crushed when he was hit by a forklift at the Oxford Mini plant. Kalmar has extended its long cooperation with Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) in Malaysia by providing 93 terminal tractors for container handling. JCB shop floor employees have voted to accept a 2.2% pay rise for 2017 as part of a newly agreed three-year wage deal.  The agreement on pay was reached following a vote by GMB members and will see around 3,200 shop floor employees receive the increase from January 1, 2017. The rise is linked to November’s Retail Price Index (RPI) announced last week.
