NEWS

1. ROCLA SALES UP DESPITE WEAK WAREHOUSE SECTOR
---------------------------------------------------
JAVENPAA, Finland
Rocla's net sales grew two percent to EUR45.1 million in the January-June half, despite demand for warehouse machines and guided vehicles weakening considerably.

According to Rocla's financial report, demand for warehouse trucks fell 10 percent compared to 2001 figures and, in industry and technical trades, Rocla's strongest sales segments, demand fell even further. Warehouse truck net sales fell to EUR35.3 million, compared to first half 2001 sales of EUR36.6 million.

Rocla's consolidated operating profit was EUR1.5 million, down considerably compared to the EUR2.9 million posted for the same period in 2001.

But, despite the reduced demand for warehouse trucks, development of after-sales services and new products continued in the European market, and the Americas opened up as a result of Rocla's sales cooperation agreement with Mitsubishi-Caterpillar.

In September, Rocla's dealership agreement for Caterpillar forklifts will expand to Latvia and Lithuania in a strategy to offer full-range services in the Baltic Sea countries. In Finland, reception for Caterpillar had been promising, with more machines sold there in the first half than the entire 12 months of 2001, the report said.

Danish subsidiary Rocla A/S under-performed, but Rocla Rent, Rocla's leasing arm, grew more than 35 percent, increasing Rocla's leasing market position in Finland.

"The weaker profit was mainly due to declining demand for warehouse trucks, strong efforts in product development and after-sales services, and the accumulation of guided vehicle volumes," the report said.

--------------------------------------
CHICAGO, United States

DSC's 503,000 square foot (4.67 hectares) complex handles inbound and outbound shipments, warehousing, fulfilment and transportation.

DSC chief executive Ann Drake said the vacancies were for all shifts. Employees would be responsible for accurately storing, shipping and receiving products, and meeting company standards for safety, security and productivity.

Other responsibilities included operating stand-up and sit-down forklifts, slip-sheet attachments, clamp attachments, pallet jacks and other powered equipment for moving, locating, stacking and counting merchandise.

5. TEREX TO ACQUIRE GENIE HOLDINGS
--------------------------------------
WESTPORT, United States
Terex Corporation will buy Genie Holdings Inc, a manufacturer of aerial work platforms, under a merger agreement by the two companies this week.

The purchase price is USD75 million, consisting of USD64.9 million in Terex common stock and USD10.1 million in cash. Terex chairman Ronald DeFeo said the transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, would close by October and boost Terex revenues by USD575 million.

"Genie is a strong global brand with significant market share, and this acquisition diversifies our product offering with the addition of aerial work platforms," he said.

"This is a sector that four years ago had too many manufacturers and too much capacity. The market has since corrected and today Genie is one of two significant players in North America and three in Europe."

Mr DeFeo said Genie president Bob Wilkerson would continue as president.

7. FORKLIFT SOLVES WEIGHTY PROBLEM
--------------------------------------
IPSWICH, United Kingdom
A man weighing 335 kilograms (784 pounds) has been hoisted out of his home by a forklift to attend hospital for a hernia operation, because he was unable to get out of bed.

Ambulance paramedics called firemen after they found it was impossible to lift the man, 41. Six firemen were also unable to lift him, according to The Evening Standard newspaper.

Instead, his wall and a neighbour's fence, a flowerbed and shrubs were knocked down, and straps were put underneath the man so he could be lifted out of his home by a forklift.

Meanwhile, in Kane County, USA, coroner Chuck West has spent USD55,000 (GBP35,000) on a forklift to move corpses after lately receiving several large bodies, including seven weighing more than 500 pounds (226 kilograms) and one weighing 700 pounds (317 kilograms).
